Turkish Construction Crew Unearths Bones Of Strange Animal Species

There are hundreds, probably thousands of amazing archaeological finds from the past decades. And you would be surprised to learn that in reality, there is still so much to discover. And more discoveries are being shared with these experts.

One of which is a strange discovery of a Turkish construction crew. The crew didn’t expect to find anything interesting one day, let alone a type of creature that had never been seen before!

The people who were working in the countryside of Turkey found something strange, something that not anyone from the crew has ever seen before or even familiar with, to say the least. Thankfully, researchers came to the rescue and took the skeleton for further research.

While digging in the area of an old spinning factory in the eastern province of Iğdır, some of the workers discovered an animal skeleton. The skeleton though did not look like anything that they are familiar with. They knew that this could be a breakthrough in animal history.

You see, no one had lived in the area that the group was exploring. It has remained uninhabited for 30 years so it made sense that it was empty when they got there.

After the crew noticed that some of the tissues of the skeleton did not deteriorate, they reported what they had discovered to the academics at the Igdır University’s Biodiversity Application and Research Center.

This was a recent discovery. It was in late 2021 when the crew dug up a large, well-preserved intact skeleton of an unidentified animal. According to reports, there’s no record of any remains being buried there. That is why it is unknown how long this animal has been in the spot where it was discovered.

It is a 3-foot-long unidentified animal and has predatory teeth according to reports. And many people are puzzled as to what animal it was supposed to be. In addition, the creature has nails instead of hooves and extra long rear limbs.

Yusuf Kitay, the operating officer of the excavation said that the workers found the animal skeleton while they were working in the area. It was the shape of the skeleton that caught the workers’ attention. They did not wait to report the situation to the authorities.
.
Kitay said, “We especially noticed that its hindlimbs are long. We informed the authorities that it may be an interesting species as its feet do not have hooves but nails, and it also has sharp teeth.” He added, “The research will be conducted, we are also curious. I hope something interesting will come out and be useful to science.”

Researchers from a nearby university will be the ones who will study and test the undecayed tissue that remains on the bones. And once testing is complete, the skeleton remains will be cared for in a nearby museum.

Belkis Muca Yigit, one of the lecturers at Igdir University, told Anadolu Agency that they will try to find out the species of the animal after the examination. Yigit said, “…we will ensure that this skeleton is preserved in a museum.”

These kinds of finds simply tell us that there are still more out there to discover. Hopefully, these would help give more answers to so many questions about the beginning of human existence.
