It Took Her 11 Births But She Finally Got What She Wanted
Every family has its own ‘family goals.’ For some, having one child is enough, while others would try everything they can to have a girl or a boy in the family. This is what happened to this family. This mom from England had to give birth to 10 boys before she finally conceived the first baby girl in the family!
For Alexis Brett, it seems like 11 is her lucky number. This mom had 10 boys in the family until she finally conceived her first daughter. It was on Christmas Eve when Alexis first suspected that she was pregnant with their 11th child. She had a home pregnancy test done and this confirmed her suspicions.
At first, Alexis thought that she will have another boy in the family. But when she and her husband, David went for a gender scan, they were shocked that finally. They conceived a girl.
Brett said, “It’s a fantastic feeling.” This mom told Daily Mail that she had given birth to her first son when she was only 22 years old. For 15 years, she had nine more boys. This is why it was a shock to the couple when they found out during the gender scan that they were expecting a baby girl. They were excited because they knew that for the first time, they would start buying pink clothes for their baby girl.
She explained, “Curiosity did get the better of us. When the results came in the mail, Harrison opened the envelope because I was too nervous. When we realized it was a girl, we were amazed. It sounds silly because it’s a 50-50 chance, but we were surprised anyway.” She added, “We’re over the moon. I’d been expecting to hear we were having another boy but when I found out it was a girl, my face was a picture. I was shocked but delighted. Now she’s here with us, it’s a fantastic feeling.”
A few weeks after she was born, they were able to bring her home.
Brett gave birth to her daughter on August 27th. They named her Cameron – after the actress Cameron Diaz. Her daughter’s birth also marked the 16-year age difference between Cameron and her eldest brother, Cambell who is 17 years old. Her other older brothers are Harrison, 16, Corey, 14, Lachlan, 11, Brodie, 9, Brahn, 8, Hunter, 6, Mack, 5, Black, 3, and Rothagaidh, 2.
Parents revealed that Cameron had been a positive influence on her older brothers especially when it comes to their behavior. David said, “They have generally been much better behaved around her, trying to keep quiet in case they wake her up. They also want to help with holding and feeding her. It’s been great.”
This new mom also joked that they are definitely stopping now. She said, “No more! I remember saying that last time, but this time I absolutely mean it. I love my family as it is now.”
Brett said that throughout her many pregnancies, she never tried hard for a girl. She said that they have been asked a lot if they were hoping to have a girl. “But I can honestly answer no,” she said. She explained that Cameron was not planned but she was happy. In fact, she would feel the same way even if she had another boy.
