If you know a teacher, they can tell you about the craziest situations that they had to deal with throughout their teaching careers. We all know that teachers go through hundreds, if not thousands of students throughout their careers. But sometimes, no matter how many students they have, there will always be a few that will catch their attention.
But one Kentucky teacher was stunned when this high school student left a note on the examination sheet. The note was so heartwarming and is definitely worth sharing. And when the teacher shared this online, it quickly went viral for all the right reasons!
The student concluded the exam in the most heartwarming way imaginable. This surely touched the teacher’s heart. And now, more and more people realize why this Kentucky teen wrote this note at the end of the exam. And because of this, the student is getting the credit as well as the respect that he truly deserves.
The teacher shared this photo on February 21, 2020. Teacher Winston Lee teaches history at Letcher County Central High School in Whitesburg. Lee was stunned at what this student wrote. Since uploaded and shared online, the post received more than 62,000 likes people have shared the content with their family and friends.
The teacher wrote: “Have to shout this out. Had honestly never seen this.”
According to the teacher, this is a “straight A+ guy.” And his request was something that for sure, not all teachers were able to come across. So what did this student write on his test paper?
The student wrote: “If you could, can you give my bonus points to whoever scores the lowest?”
Getting bonus points is definitely one of the benefits that students love. But for this student, he decided to give it to others who need it the most. The teacher was so overwhelmed by the student’s generosity that he felt that others have to see this too.
Lee wrote: “One of my guys… offers up his five bonus points to someone in need. Anyone. Totally offering up what is rightfully his, his earning, to any peer that may have been struggling especially hard the day of the test.”
The teacher added, “He didn’t care if he considered them a friend, didn’t care if they were cool, didn’t matter to him what situation had caused them to score lower, he just wanted to help, be kind, commit a loving act.”
The teacher concluded the post by writing: “This note gave me so much hope. Let us all be a little more like this young man!”
In a separate interview with HeartThreads, the teacher said, “[I] could not be more proud of this student. What an inspiration to others in committing such a selfless act of kindness!”
The teacher also shared the story on Facebook’s ‘Love What Matters.’ Lee said that many of his students come from low-income households. And most of the time, these students face difficult circumstances, but they “never cease to amaze.”
But according to the teacher, he was the one who was taught a lesson that day. The teacher is hoping that sharing this story would also inspire other students to be mindful of their peers and pass the compassion and kindness.
