Shannen Doherty Gives Heartbreaking Health Update That Cancer Has Spread to Her


Shannen Doherty, known for her roles in Beverly Hills, 90210 and Charmed, recently announced that her Stage 4 cancer has spread to her brain. The 52-year-old actress shared this emotional news with her Instagram followers on June 6. She included a video showing her undergoing her first round of brain radiation treatment on January 12, a week after her CT scan revealed metastases in her brain.

Doherty openly expressed her fears and the turmoil she was experiencing due to the cancer, revealing that she has claustrophobia which adds another layer of difficulty to the process. Despite her fears, she spoke of her gratitude for her medical team, including Dr. Amin Mirahdi and the technicians at Cedar Sinai, who are helping her navigate her treatment.

The actress had first been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. She shared every step of her journey on social media until she went into remission in 2017. However, her cancer returned two years later and by 2020, it had progressed to Stage 4. She announced her condition on Good Morning America, expressing the difficulty of coming to terms with her diagnosis.

Despite her health issues, Doherty continued to engage with her fans. In 2023, she participated in the ’90s Con and joined the Charmed panel, where she assured fans that she was feeling great.

In discussing her experience with cancer, Doherty has candidly addressed the emotional toll of the disease. She shared her moments of questioning why she was going through this, but also the realization that no one deserves such a hardship. Her courageous battle and honest depiction of her journey continue to serve as an inspiration for many.
