Sending Prayers To Val Kilmer

Jul 21st, 2021

Fans are missing Val Kilmer because he hasn’t been in front of the camera as much as he used to. But the actor is still keeping busy with his career.

In 2020, Val released his memoir which has received fantastic reviews. And now, he’s been busy preparing for the release of another project — his own documentary!

Despite all the successes that he is enjoying now, Val has also been through some rocky times in his life. And he is fully comfortable talking about some of it.

Six years ago Val was diagnosed with throat cancer. It was so aggressive that he needed a tracheotomy. And he knew that this would affect his speech forever. With the biography, Val has realized that there are plenty of other meaningful ways that he can use to connect with others. The documentary will be the first time for his fans to see what his life has been like.

The documentary will be called “Val.” There will be scenes showing that moment when he discovers his cancer. It also has plenty of footage from the actors’ earlier days in his career. In the trailer, a voice representing him who was reportedly his son, Jack Kilmer, narrates: “I was recently diagnosed with throat cancer. I’m still recovering, and it is difficult to talk and to be understood.”

The scenes in the documentary is mostly shot by Val himself. In the trailer, he said that he always carried a video camera with him to document never-before-seen memories, some are from his most popular movies. In fact, there are plenty of other celebrities who made cameo appearances.

Val wanted to use this opportunity to tell his story. Near the end of the trailer, fans would finally see, and hear, Val with the voice box.

Using his voicebox, he said: “I’ve tried to see the world as one piece of life.”

“As I write this, my documentary is getting ready to premiere at Festival De Cannes,” he wrote on Twitter. “And as grateful as I am for being selected with this high honor, I look forward most to sharing my life’s story with all of you.” The movie will be streaming, but it’s also getting a theatrical release.

Two years ago, Val opened up more about his illness after rumors started circulating. In fact, he even did an “Ask Me Anything” and didn’t hold back when a fan asked about his health.

The fan asked: “A while ago, Michael Douglas claimed you had terminal cancer. What was the story behind that?

Val bravely replied saying: “I did have a healing of cancer, but my tongue is still swollen.”

Val wasn’t probably sure how he’d be accepted. He probably thought at the time that his voice was key for his acting career. But despite the changes, he’s been able to act regardless because he is talented as he is. One of his most recent roles was in “Paydirt.” This is a film created by his daughter, Mercedes Kilmer.

On Twitter, Val expressed how excited he is to see decades of footage. This documentary is directed by Leo Scott and Ting Poo and will premier at Amazon Prime. This film is a reminder that it’s never crazy to take videos of your past. One day, they’ll serve as a beautiful reflection, and Val is thankful that he did.
