Police Receive Letter From 9-Year-Old With $10 Bill Tucked Inside, Here’s Why

Enforcement officers do not have the time to take a long lunch break and enjoy a hefty meal. Usually, fast food and donut shops are their “go-to” lunch places. That is why you should not be surprised to see them here during lunchtime. Because of their busy workday, they prefer meals-on-the-go.

Meeting children is not new for this Pennsylvania state trooper. Through the years of service, he has met a lot of children during his lunch breaks. However, nothing can compare to this particular lunch break when he met a young girl.

A little girl named Brooke indeed left a big impression on this state trooper. He was at a convenience store one day when he noticed her waiting in line to buy some donuts. It was her time to pay, but the cashier told her that her money is not enough to pay for the donuts. He noticed how the girl looked like she wanted those donuts, so the officer offered to add it to his bill.

The girl was probably ashamed that another person paid for her donuts, so she ran out of the store after getting her food. The officer probably just thought nothing of it because kids can get embarrassed in such situations. He also never thought that he would meet Brooke again.

What he did not know was that Brooke wanted to pay back the officer. So she wrote a thank you letter, placed it in an envelope then sent it to the Pennsylvania State Police office. She also inserted a $10 bill to repay the officer who paid for her donuts that day.

When the troopers received Brooks’ letter, they were impressed. Not every kid will go above and beyond just to thank you for what you did for them. And because of that, the officers decided to give her something in return.

The troopers sent Brooke $50 and a gift card for Toys R Us. They expected her to use it to buy herself some toys or things that she likes. But she did the opposite. Instead, Brooke bought gifts for other kids through “Toys for Tots.” She did not buy anything for herself. And when the troopers learned about this, they were more impressed.

They knew that they needed to do something more for her. So they invited her to the local station. You see, this is not something that they commonly do, even for kids. But Brooke is special. She has a big heart, so that they will make this exemption for her.

When Brooke arrived at the station, the officers gave her a tour of the facilities. And the little loved every second of it. Brooke shared in an interview with CBS that her most favorite part of the tour was seeing and sitting in one of the squad cars.

The officers also surprised her with more gifts. And this time, they made her promise to keep the gifts to herself.

Brooke may still be young, but she already understands the importance of “giving back” and making it her ultimate mission in life. Of course, her family, friends, and the entire community are very proud of her.

And thanks to the police officers, they made another kid happy that day.
