Officer Buys Mom Car Seats After Pulling Her Over Instead Of Giving A Ticket

Dec 2nd, 2019

If you have kids, you know how important it is to have them in their car seats every time they have to ride the car. Young children are not safe on the adult seats which is why they need their car seats until they are old enough to keep them safe and protected in case of accidents.

This is why police officers will always pull you over if you are caught with children who are not on their car seats. This is what happened to a mom when she was pulled over by a Milwaukee police officer.

On October 12th, Andrella “Lashae” Jackson was pulled over after a police officer noticed that her two young daughters were not seated in their car seats. Jackson knew that this was wrong and she will surely have a hefty ticket that day. To her surprise, this did not happen!

Officer Kevin Zimmerman purchased and installed two car seats for Jackson’s daughters, Niyah and Sky. He just issued Jackson a verbal warning instead of ticketing the single mom of five. Jackson shared this amazing moment on Facebook. She wrote: “My girls couldn’t stop thanking him and it made them smile….shout out to Officer Zimmerman at District 5. We appreciate it a lot.”

That day, the officer stopped Jackson for not having proper registration. This is when he noticed that her children were seated inside the car without any seat belts. They weren’t even in their car seats. When he asked her, Jackson admitted that she could not afford car seats for her girls.

During her interview with CNN affiliate, WTMJ, she said, “With bills coming up and winter coming up, I have to get coats and boots and shoes for my kids… So it was hard for me.”

According to Zimmerman who is a 12-year MPD veteran, he decided to visit Walmart and buy two car seats. He also stopped by the police department to pick up stickers as well as children’s books that she can give to Jackson’s girls. Then, he visited their humble home.

He also went out of his way to install the car seats himself. He said that he was raised to do the right thing even if nobody expected him to, or if no one is looking.

The officer wanted to make it his priority at that time was to make sure that the girls are safe. He had witnessed serious car accidents where children went flying out of the windshields only because they were not properly secured in their seats. Zimmerman shared that he is a dad of three and he can’t imagine anything happening to them.

He also added that he can’t let them get in the car without having them secured in their car seats.

For his kindness, the Milwaukee Police Department also thanked Zimmerman. They recognized his actions of going the extra mile, and above and beyond his call of duty.

Police officers are heroes in more ways than one. They make sure that their community is safe and protected from bad people. They might be intimidating at times, but they too have a kind heart, just like Officer Kevin Zimmerman. Thanks to him, Jackson will have a peace of mind that her daughters are safe inside the car from now on.
