Mom Of Four Dies After Childbirth But Saves 12 Stranger’s Lives Through Organ Donation
Jun 10th, 2021
Many people agree to organ donation if ever they pass away. In fact, many lives have been saved through this decision. This is what happened to Kathleen Thorson.
When this mom of four passed away after falling ill last January, the doctors were able to donate 12 of her organs to those people who desperately needed them. Thorson was from Medford, Oregon. She gave birth to her fourth child, Theodore, on December 29th. However, she got sick after giving birth.
This mom had an intracerebral hemorrhage. This is a pregnancy complication that causes maternal strokes. According to a study that was presented at the 2019 American Journal of Neurology Annual Meeting, this is very common during the third semester or during the post-partum period. As common as it seems, the cause of this complication is still unknown.
Aside from donating her organs, a GoFundMe page was also set up in her memory. The campaign was for her husband, Jesse, and their kids, Danny, Grace, James, and baby Teddy. Three weeks after the campaign started, they were able to raise over $120,000. It surpassed their goal of $50,000.
The GoFundMe page describes this mom as “mother extraordinaire,” and also “bringer of love, life and magic. ” It also said that she was a “giver of goodness and hope. ”
There is no doubt that all of these things are true. Thorson wanted to help others in case she passes away. She donated 12 of her organs, including her heart and lungs. Stubbs added, “The nurse told Jesse the chances that someone is a candidate of this magnitude is less than 1 in a million.”
According to Richard Stubbs, the organizer of the GoFundMe campaign for Thorson, her condition deteriorated to a point that she could no longer hold on to her life. He added, As was her wish, we are doing everything we can for her to be the prayed-for miracle of life for certain others in need of organ donations.”
This touching tribute through the GoFundMe campaign for Thorson encourages other people to be a bit more like this her. Stubbs further wrote, “Look for the hand of God in your life every day,” Stubbs wrote. “Love people. Cook them tasty food. Enjoy the beauty of your ordinary life. Go on adventures. Read poetry. Take calming baths.
Wear soft clothes. Sing. Grow things. Grow people. Grow dreams. Find out who you are and be the best You that you can be. ”
Actress Kristen Bell shared this heroic moms’ story on her Instagram page. Bell wrote: “Jesse – our thoughts are with your family during this unimaginably difficult time,” Bell wrote in the caption. “Sending peace and love your way.”
Bell also shared that a Year of Hello Bello Bundles, which includes diapers and wipes, was going to Jesse. The Hello Bello is the actress’s baby line and it runs a weekly “Tuesday of Giving.” Thorson’s baby is just one of the lucky recipients of her kindness.
Thanks to the GoFundMe campaign, Jesse would be able to cover the medical costs, funeral expenses, plus the lost earnings upon his wife’s passing. And kudos to Kristen Bells’ Hello Bello for sharing her blessings to this family who is in great need of the help that they can receive.
And of course, thanks to this amazing mom who was able to give other people a chance of life.
