Mom Has Foolproof Method To Get 20 Minutes Of Quiet Time From Her Kids
Nov 6th, 2019
If you have young children, you know how active they can be to the point that they won’t allow you to have your ‘me’ time even in the shower. Telling them ‘No’ means ‘Yes’ to these little rascals. Even though how much you try you will not be able to get them to slow down, stay still, and be quiet.
This mom found out a trick that works pretty well with her kids!
Jessica D’Entremont returned home from a long day out with her two daughters. She is sure that they were totally overstimulated. But it seemed like her 4-year-old Emma and 3-year-old Hannelore didn’t even feel a quarter of the tiredness that she felt. They were running around the house until mom cannot take it anymore. She just needs a couple of minutes of quietness in the house!
Before she finally broke down, she came up with a genius idea. She told her two daughters that in order for their glow-in-the-dark pajamas to work, they need to lie very still to charge it up. Do you think it worked?
During her interview with PopSugar, she shared, “The kids were jumping and running around, chasing each other with dragons they made out of Legos. Both of my girls have sensory processing disorders and we had a very busy day. Our walk home threw them all off due to the crowds, noise and the shopping.
They were about to start freaking out, so I whipped out the pajamas once we got home and told them if they lie super still and charge them they would glow in the dark. ”
Now if you don’t think that’s clever then you might be missing out!
This trick earned this tired mom a good 10 minutes of quiet time. That definitely did the trick. To her amazement, she decided to share what happened on Facebook. She posted a picture of her daughters on their ‘glow-in-the-dark’ PJs and they were lying very still on the floor ‘charging up’ to make them work. Her caption reads:
“Looking for a way to keep your kids still… Buy them glow in the dark PJs. Tell them they have to lie really still under the light to “charge” them….. I’m not even sorry”
Her out-of-this-world idea went viral! It gained 220,000 reactions and 70,000 comments. It was also shared 132,000 times.
Later on, she updated every one to let them know what happened and how she has taken this white lie a little step further. She wrote:
“To expand on the trickery I’ve started putting the PJs back into their drawer when they get dressed in the morning … unexposed to light all day they dim and do not glow in the dark when they tried to test me last night until they laid again. Reinforcing the need to lie quietly under the light before bed. Again #notevensorry.”
Since this trick worked, she now incorporated this into her kids’ bedtime routine. The kids think that it’s fun. For the mom, nothing is better than getting a good quiet time before these kids go to sleep.
When asked why she thinks people can relate to her post, she explained to Today Parents that sometimes, it is nice to see something this innocent and playful and relatable. For sure, you too will try this parenting hack!
