Madonna Claps Back At Online Critics For Calling Daughter ‘Disgusting’ For Her Armpit Hair

In 2018, people on social media said terrible things about Madonna and her daughter Lourdes “Lola” Leon because of one picture. It seems like it was such a huge deal for a lot of people when they discovered that Lola is not shaving her armpits.

Lola is Madonnas’ daughter to Carlos Leon. looking at the pictures and videos that Madonna shares online, it is clear that she and her daughter have a very close relationship. In fact, they have a really tight-knit family. Lola is also close to her siblings, her younger brother Rocco Ritchie and her adopted brother and sisters, David Banda, Mercy James, Estere, and Stelle.

Despite being the daughter of a successful celebrity, Lourdes has established her own reputation. She has made a name for herself as a model. Then in 2016, she was featured in an ad campaign for a Stella McCartney perfume.

And just like any mother, Madonna was quick to defend her daughter regarding the post, even if the 25-year-old doesn’t seem like she needed it.

On January 1, 2018, Madonna posted the said photo of herself and Lourdes that has since been much criticized. Even though it was a touching moment between mother and daughter as they shared an embrace, most of the comments focused on Lourdes’s underarm hair.

In the picture, Madonna posed for a photo with Lola. The young lady’s arms were up and around her mom. The singer posted the photo with the caption:

“We are ready for you 2018!”

And like her other post, this one also quickly went viral. The unshaven hair on Lola’s armpits provoked a range of responses from the general public. This was apparently taken very seriously by many. Some people questioned her because she did not shave her armpits like other women. Inappropriate names were also directed at Lola by some.

This Twitter user asked: “Is it possible to unsee a picture?” One commenter wrote: “Lola you so gross.” Another commenter tweeted: “Not a good look like that! Is she a man, disguised as a woman?”

Lola probably got the courage to stand up for what she believes in from her mother. Because when it comes to armpit hair, she’s not the only person who can be proud of it. Madonna even shared a selfie of herself doing the same thing back in March 2014.

Some people may be grossed out by armpit hair, but not all. In fact, growing armpit hair in women is now a widely accepted practice. Also, a lot of people were quick to stand up for Madonna and her daughter.

People have defended her where some are saying that it’s no longer unconventional for women to have armpit hair. Also, others said that having hair in the armpits is not a sign of bad hygiene.

The singer didn’t immediately address the criticism, but a few days later she posted a statement on Instagram and Twitter that was clearly meant for her critics.

She shared a photo with this caption:
“Oh wait! What was my New Year’s Resolution? Oh yeah. To give many less f**ks about what people think! #thinkforyourself #dontbeasheep #thecheesestandsalone.”

What are your thoughts about women letting their armpit hair grow? Do you know anyone, maybe celebrities who are also doing the same?
