Florida Woman Goes Missing For Three Weeks, , Found Naked In Storm Drain Says She Got Lost Swimming

A naked woman from Florida was recently pulled out of a storm drain by rescuers last Tuesday. As it turned out, local reports reveal that she had been missing for three weeks.
According to authorities, a passerby called 911 after hearing 43-year-old Lyndsey Kennedy calling for help from an 8-foot pit at about nine in the morning in Delray Beach. Police and firefighters quickly moved to remove the cap, lowered a ladder and harness, and pulled her to safety. The woman was naked so they made sure that she is covered with a white sheet.
When the woman was found she was seen with dirt on her feet and scraped knees. A spokesperson for Delray Beach fire rescue said that she sustained superficial injuries but was so weak that she couldn’t stand on her own. To ensure her safety, they took her to a nearby hospital.
The report stated that the woman was “very lucid” when talking to the police after her rescue. The officer also noted that her version of events was “unusual. ”
In an interview with Sun-Sentinel last week, Delray Beach Fire Rescue spokesperson Dani Moschella said, “She was lucky. I don’t know how much longer she would have been OK down there. The idea that somebody might be down there for any length of time is disturbing. It’s dirty, dangerous, there’s snakes, rats, garbage, dirt and leaves, anything that’s on the street that washes into a sewer, and it smells terrible.”
Lyndsey Kennedy had been missing since March 3. Her boyfriend reported her missing the same day, telling investigators he returned from work to find her purse and phone at his place – but she was not there. However, the authorities were not sure how much time had she spent in the pit.
A police spokesperson named Ted White said, “The health officials don’t believe that she was down there for that long. From their perspective, they think maybe days, but certainly not weeks. We don’t feel that there was any crime committed. But the biggest question is, is her story credible? Was she actually down there the whole time?”
The health officials that they have consulted believe it is more likely that Kennedy was only in the sewer for two or three days.
In an interview with Kennedy, she told the investigators that she became trapped after exploring a tunnel she found while swimming in a canal near her boyfriends’ home. She was swimming in the canal when she noticed a door and allegedly entered it. She said that she eventually got lost and ended up three miles away from where she first began.
She survived on a can of ginger ale she discovered unopened along the way.
She also said that she had wandered the tunnels until she saw light and walked toward it. She noticed people walking by and decided to sit. Eventually, she yelled at a passerby for help, and luckily, she was heard because this person called the police.
As reported by Insider, the 911 call went this way: “There’s somebody stuck in the sewer over here. She is stuck and can’t get out and is screaming for help.”
The police report noted that the woman has a history of mental illness and drug use. Kennedys’ mother also said her daughter has a history of “doing odd things and making bad decisions when she is high on drugs.”
