Farmers Remain Silent At Auction So Man Can Get Back His Family Farm
Oct 9th, 2019
If you grew up away from the city life, you know how important it is for your parents that you to inherit their properties. We may have moved to live in the city but we will always have that family home to visit during the holidays. A place where you grew up together with your siblings.
The family home will always be passed down to the next generation. Some continue to take care of it, while others sell it for a good fortune.
For David and his family, their homestead is very important to them. He always had a family of farmers and even his ancestors owned the land. David is now living in Nebraska, but the family farm that they have been taking care of after all these years was sold by a relative.
This is an 80-acre farm and this is no longer a part of the homestead after it was sold. Everyone in the family got upset, but David was more than determined to get it back.
Luckily, the land came up for sale through an auction!
David and his dad gathered up all their savings to buy back the land. They spent night and day wondering how they would be able to purchase the property. During the auction day, father and son thought that there is no hope that they would get their land back. There’s no way that they would be able to outbid what others have to offer. Little did they know that the other farmers came together and did something for them. Something so precious, that they would not be able to forget for the rest of their lives.
While the auction started, David and his father stood with the crowd to start placing their bid, hoping that they would be able to afford the farm. However, nobody said a word!
The others could have easily afforded to bid for the land, but nobody ever spoke up. In the end, the auctioneer had to slam the gavel and give the land to David and his father. They found out that the other 200 farmers did not attempt to bid because they know how important it is for David and his dad to get their farm back.
The farmers wanted them to have the farm back to their name too. And this is what they did.
David’s father said, “I’ve had two profoundly humbling days in my life. The first was the day my son was born. The second was that unforgettable day at the auction house.”
This human kindness is what the world needs. It is easy to be greedy and only wants what is best for yourself, but being able to help others can give you a different kind of contentment and happiness. Being a good person in this world is not that hard to achieve. We just have to take a little step further in order to extend our help to others.
A simple act of kindness can go a long way. Those farmers could have easily placed their bid and afford to buy the farm. But they want David and his father to get what they deserve because they know too how important that auction is for father and son.
