Elderly Women Stopped By Police For Driving Too Slow And Her Response Will Make You Laugh
May 3rd, 2021
If you want to read something that will surely put a smile on your face, then you should hear about this hilarious joke that has been going viral this week.
Most motorists are getting stopped by a police officer for disobeying traffic rules. These rules are there for a reason. We don’t want to cause any road trouble nor be on the receiving end of someone else’s mistake. And usually, drivers are stopped due to overspeeding. But for this driver and her passengers, it’s exactly the opposite.
This all started when a police officer pulled over an elderly woman. The reason? She was driving too slowly on the highway!
You see, the woman was only going for 22 miles per hour on the highway. And as the officer walked up to the car, he noticed that there were five elderly women inside. Two of them were sitting in the front and three in the back. All of the women inside the car looked at him wide-eyed.
They looked terrified. The woman behind the wheel asked, “Officer, I don’t understand, I was doing exactly the speed limit. What seems to be the problem. ”
The officer replied, “Ma’am. You weren’t speeding, but you should know that driving slower than the speed limit can also be a danger to other drivers.”
Confused, the driver asked, “Slower than the speed limit? No sir, I was doing the speed limit exactly… Twenty-Two miles an hour!”
Holding on to the urge to laugh, the officer told the woman that “22” was the route number. And that is not the speed limit.
It was obvious that the woman was a little embarrassed by this revelation, but still, she thanked the officer for pointing out her mistake.
Before he let them go, the officer asked, “But before I let you go, Ma’am, I have to ask… Is everyone in this car ok? These women seem awfully shaken and they haven’t muttered a single peep this whole time.”
Then she replied, “Oh, they’ll be alright in a minute officer. We just got off Route 119.”
Can you imagine? If she was driving 22 mph at Route 22, could she have been going for 119 mph at Route 119?
That might have been impossible but definitely hilarious to think about. There is no doubt that this officer has come across some pretty funny interactions during stops, but for sure, this is one of those that he will never forget.
You have to remember that driving over a given speed limit is not only illegal but is also dangerous not only for you but also for other motorists. Driving faster than the speed limit might save you time but it also increases the chances of an accident. Take note that the faster you are moving, the longer it takes for the car to stop if you apply the brakes.
Also, driving below the speed limit is not advisable. Even though most state laws do not specify how far below the speed limit is legal and they leave that decision to the highway patrol officer, remember that it is illegal to drive at a speed so slow that you will hold up the normal traffic flow. If you go slow on a higher-speed freeway, it can increase the risk of a collision.
Maybe not for you, but for the motorists behind you.
