Driver Drags Dog From The Car Because There Wasn’t Room Inside

Dec 2nd, 2019

If you are a pet owner, you should know your responsibilities in taking care of your dog, cat, bird, mouse, or whatever pet you choose to have. This is why when people learned about what this heartless driver did to his pet dog, it sparked outrage. What made it worse was his reason for doing it.

The driver tied the poor dog on the electric red car and dragged it down the busy road of Liuzhou, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region by the leash.

A civilian and a CCTV footage served as evidence of this abusive behavior. As seen in the video, the male passenger was holding the tired dog on a leash while it was trying to keep up with the car that travels about 5 miles an hour. This happened on a busy road around 7:50 at night near the Guangxi University of Science and Technology.

At some point, the distressed dog tripped while the car was making its way across the intersection that made the car stop in the middle of oncoming traffic. The driver waited for a couple of minutes while the other motorists had to go around the car.

According to the police, the dog was dragged along for about 20 minutes before it was taken back home. The statement released by the Liuzhou Traffic Police stated that the driver’s reason for doing it to the poor dog was because there was no space inside the Baojun E100. The driver added that this is why they had to ‘walk’ the dog back home. When the driver with a surname, Li, was summoned to the police station, she explained that the dog belonged to her friend.

Even though it was determined that the dog was unharmed, she was still given two demerit points for what she did. She was also fined 100 yuan ($15).

Aside from animal abuse, many people believe that this was a dangerous road hazard for the other commuters.

This is a shocking incident for many people. Even though the country is not famous for its animal rights initiatives, many Chinese who were concerned about the dog took it to Weibo, a Chinese microblogging site to express their outrage. People left comments about how disappointed they were with what this driver did. Some felt sad for the dog and are wondering about his or her well-being.

The site was also flooded with negative comments about the driver. One commenter wrote: “These people are terrifying. They totally did not care for the dog’s safety! and What is their problem? This man doesn’t deserve to be a pet owner.”

This was not a surprise for some people. China doesn’t really give much value to their dogs because if you can remember, a part of China celebrates the Yulin Dog Meat Festival where it involves the torture, killing, and burning or dogs.

There was already a draft law passed around way back in 2009 regarding the Protection of Animals, and another 2010 draft law on the Prevention of Cruelty to animals that were sent for the State Council, nothing seemed to change. Still, everyone is hoping that the number of animal abuse cases, especially with dogs, in this country will somehow go down.
