Brown Sugar And Bacon Baked Beans Recipe

Ingredients:

2 cups dried white beans
1 cup bacon and/or salt pork, finely chopped
1 finely chopped onion
2 tablespoons salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 cup ketchup
1 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup dark brown sugar
Instructions:

Soak beans in cold water overnight or for 8 hours. Do not discard the soaking water.
In a slow cooker, layer the beans, sliced onions, and bacon.
In a saucepan, mix together the molasses, salt, pepper, mustard, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and sugar. Heat the mixture over medium-high heat until the sugar is melted, about 3-5 minutes.
Pour the sauce over the layers of beans, onions, and bacon in the slow cooker.
Pour enough of the soaked water into the slow cooker to cover the beans.
Set the slow cooker to low and cook for 8-12 hours. It is best to start this recipe in the morning so that it is ready for dinner. The beans are ready when the sauce has thickened and the beans are soft.
Serve immediately or store leftovers in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 3 days. You can also freeze leftovers.
Enjoy!
