Bullying is one of the biggest problems that a child has to face at school. Sometimes, bullies would not only settle for verbal abuse. Many victims would suffer from physical assault in the hands of their bullies.

One of them is Harrison Fernandez from the United Kingdom. This 12-year-old boy was bullied by a group of five boys. He joined the Colchester Academy in September 2019. Since then, he became the easy target of bullying at school. There are times that he would go home bloodied and bruise all over his face and body. For the last three months that he was in school, he would always come home bloodied, bruised, or injured. The five boys would beat him up or tear up his clothes and leave him in tears. He would regularly get tormented by these boys. They would punch him and push him around, call him names and trouble him in the worst way possible.

The sad part is that Harrison is an autistic boy.

Harrison’s mom, Leanne, called the police on these boys for four times. The first one was on September 5, just a few days after her son joined the school. The mom shared that Harrison was physically hurt by these bullies. The second call was a week after the first incident. The boy was beaten by another bully. Then on September 26, she called the police again after Harrison was punched as he was picked up from school. And her last all was in November 2019. Her son told her that he was ‘scared’ and that the bullies had hurt him.

During her interview with Daily Mail, Leanne talked about one bully who threatened Harrison. She said, “One child threatened him when he saw him and said, ‘we are looking for you’ and said, ‘we are going to stamp on your skull.’ That’s not a normal thing for a 12-year-old to say. Obviously it all started off verbally with them saying he was gay, he walked gay, he looked gay, he talked gay. But on the second day, it escalated to physical.”

She added, “They tried “peanut-ing” the tie and it came off and they started pushing him and it continued out of school. He has had orange juice poured down the back of his neck, food taken away from him had three of them pushing him at one time… He had to go classes five minutes earlier than the others so that he could get there before them or they would punch him in the groin. He would come home and cry and say it’s too much to handle.”

The worried mom also explained that the boys would wait between classes just so they could ‘ambush’ Harrison. She said, “It is really upsetting for him. He had just started school and he is asking, ‘why have they got a problem with me?’ When you go into school every single day and a number of them are going up to him between classes punching him in the groin. It’s awful.”

Leanne explained that instead of giving the appropriate punishment to the bullies, the school resorted to temporary measures. They would just allow Harrison to leave his classes early or go to school early just so he wouldn’t cross paths with his bullies. The mom explained that Harrison only wanted to go to school. He has already been in so much pain and stress and his doctor says that it would be detrimental for him to be in school.

When asked, the school stated that they could not comment on Harrison’s case. But they assure everyone that they keep their students safe against bullying.
